Dear parents and carers,

It truly is my favourite time of the year! This term has been packed with exciting experiences and so much fun learning. From thrilling school trips to immersive activities right here at school, it’s been a wonderful few months. One of the highlights was definitely the Stone Age workshop—it really felt like we had stepped back in time!

We are also incredibly proud of the work we've done within our community, including the LVC's fundraising 'New Hope' Homeless Charity and the Christmas Choir’s festive performance at Morrisons. These moments of giving and sharing truly highlight the spirit of the season.

A huge thank you to our amazing PTA for their continued support. The Christmas Fair was a massive success, and it wouldn’t have been possible without their dedication and hard work.

December Fun!

Experiences and Trips this month

Year 5 Wonder Dome

The Wonder Dome experience for Year 5 was absolutely fantastic! This immersive planetarium visit allowed the children to explore the wonders of space in a way they’ll never forget. Inside the dome, they were transported on a journey through the stars, learning about planets, constellations, and the universe.

Viking Workshop

The Year 4 Viking Day was an absolute hit! The children had an incredible time stepping into the world of the Vikings, with exciting hands-on activities. The enthusiasm and engagement were amazing, and it was a fantastic way for the children to deepen their understanding of history while having lots of fun!

Lincolnsfield Centre

The Year 6 visit to the Lincolnfield Centre was an unforgettable experience, perfectly linking with our World War topics. The students participated in immersive, hands-on activities that brought history to life. The trip was both educational and memorable, sparking thoughtful discussions and a greater appreciation for history.

Stone Age Workshop

The Stone Age workshop for Year 3 was an unforgettable experience! The children had the chance to explore history through hands-on activities, including tasting a delicious fish cooked on the fire. It was an immersive way to learn about the daily lives of Stone Age people, sparking curiosity and excitement in everyone. The workshop truly brought history to life and left pupils buzzing with enthusiasm!

Church Visit

Year 1 walked to St Michael's church to explore a Christians place of worship. We were able to walk around the church and spot features such as stained glass windows and the altar. We were also extremely fortunate and were able to ask lots of questions about how Christians celebrate harvest and Christmas.

School Performances

Year 2 performed a fabulous festive carol concert for the whole school and then to their parents who thoroughly enjoyed it. Well done Year 2!

The Reception Nativity was truly magical! The children did an incredible job bringing the Christmas story to life with their beautiful performances, bright costumes, and infectious enthusiasm.

Community

LVC have worked hard this month to raise money money for a very good cause - New Hope Homeless Charity. They made and sold biscuits to sell to the community and then used the money to design and make goody bags to give to the poor. We are incredibly proud of their achievement. Well Done!

The Christmas Choir stole the show at Morrisons Supermarket last week. Parents came to support and customers walking in were greeted to the wonderful sound of Christmas. They also got the chance to perform to Santa, who made a surprise appearance.

Christmas Lunch

The school Christmas lunch was a festive and joyful occasion, enjoyed by both pupils and staff. The beautifully decorated dining hall created a warm atmosphere, and the children's excitement added to the magic of the day. It was a wonderful opportunity for everyone to come together, share a meal, and celebrate Christmas.

Staff Christmas Panto

The staff pantomime of Jack and the Beanstalk was a hilarious and unforgettable highlight of the term! It was a fantastic way to bring our school community together and spread some festive joy—everyone is already looking forward to next year’s show!

Christmas Fair

Thank you to the PTA for a fantastic Christmas Fair. They raised over £3000 for the school. Thank you for all the families that came to support us.

Attendance

The current attendance at Ascot Road is 93.1% which is below national at 94.6%. Regular attendance is key to your child’s success. Each day in school builds their academic progress and social skills. Missing school can lead to gaps in learning, making it harder to keep up with lessons. By prioritising attendance, you help your child stay engaged and reach their full potential.
