Dear Parents and Carers,

As we approach the Easter break, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the term and share my heartfelt thanks with each and every one of you. It’s been a busy few months, full of hard work, dedication, and plenty of milestones to celebrate. Seeing our pupils grow, both in their studies and as individuals, has been a true joy.

With the Easter holidays upon us, I hope everyone gets a chance to relax, recharge, and enjoy some well-deserved time with family and friends. It’s a wonderful time for new beginnings and fresh perspectives, and I’m excited for what lies ahead when we return.

March at Ascot Road Primary

Chess Club Competition

Our chess club here at Ascot Road went up against Little Green for a friendly competition. Both teachers said how fantastic the pupils were and did extremely well playing under competition rules!

Dinosaur Day

Reception enjoyed a wonderful day in their dinosaur workshop. They got to meet a T Rex and had fun making a mini movie against a green screen!

World Book Day

Everyone had a great day celebrating World Book Day, we had some fabulous outfits and enjoyed a day focused on how beneficial reading can be to us both personally and in our careers.

We followed World Book Day with our Scholastic book fair which raised a fantastic amount of money and means we will receive £223 to spend on books!! THANK YOU for supporting!

Science Showcase

We had a busy week in science week with each class focusing on different subjects within science and carrying out their own experiments. The children found it to be a thoroughly engaging week. We ended the week with our brilliant Science Showcase!

Red Nose Day

Assembly was a sea of red on March 21st as we celebrated and supported Red Nose Day! Kings Cross were the winners of collecting the most coins, the reached 834!! Congratulations and well done to everyone, thank you for your donations.

Sports Matches

We're proud of our Netball and Football team for showing great sportsmanship and determination in their recent matches against local primary schools. Their team work is growing and we know the wins will come soon. Keep it up!

OPAL Lunchtimes

We are looking to relaunch the OPAL lunchtimes where we develop and learn how to play with and around one another. The aim of OPAL is to address all of the areas schools must plan for if they want to strategically and sustainably improve the quality of their play opportunities.

The OPAL Primary Programme is the only programme of its kind that has been

independently proven to sustainably improve the quality of play in British primary schools.

We have compiled a wishlist of things we could use to develop our imaginations and support our creative play.

If you have any of the following, we would love it if you could donate it to the school and bring it on 22nd April. There will be a table out the front of school where donations can be left.

Start and end of school day notice

For everyone's safety, we kindly ask that children refrain from using the playground equipment or playing ball games on the school grounds during drop-off and pick-up times. We also request that families leave the school grounds promptly after collecting their children, so the gates can be securely locked. Many thanks for your support in this matter.

Important Reminders

Please ensure the food your child brings into school does not contain any nuts as we are a NUT FREE school.

Please ensure all your children's items are clearly labelled! Uniform, water bottles, packed lunch boxes, coats.... we have so many items end up in the lost property every week, most of which is not labelled. Please ensure you label everything so if lost it can be quickly returned to its owner!

A reminder to all parents to please follow the one-way system when dropping off and picking up your children. This helps keep things safe and smooth for everyone. Sticking to the one-way route reduces congestion, keeps traffic flowing, and ensures the safety of all our pupils.

PTA Easter Raffle

Thank you to all who supported the PTA Easter Raffle. Well done to all our winners, prizes were handed out to the children in class who were very happy with their winnings!

Attendance

The current attendance at Ascot Road is 92.1% which is below national at 94.5%. Regular attendance is key to your child’s success. Each day in school builds their academic progress and social skills. Missing school can lead to gaps in learning, making it harder to keep up with lessons. By prioritising attendance, you help your child stay engaged and reach their full potential.
